Tuesdays are just so busy. I can only be in so many places and I never feel like I am pulling it together enough. We have also started eating soup on Tuesdays which Brevick hates and reminds me of that every. single. time. I know buddy, I know but you know what? It's food in bellies that I don't have to babysit or try to time just right in the oven. I have started taking him to the store with me to pick up the garlic bread to go with the soup. **Important side note. Do NOT get garlic bread from Fred Meyer, it's really not that good.**
So we did the usual things today. The middle kids had school all day, William and Charley had homeschool all day. Anchor did his remote learning in the morning aka bubble guppies, pj masks, and mickey mouse club house. Then he played, took a nap. Yelled at a few people and threw something off the deck which I can't remember what that was and I KNOW I forgot to go get it.
Then we started running the gauntlet. We started out ok. Picking up Charley and delivering William, Charley, and Emmerlyn to their practices starting at 5:30, 5:30, and 6:00. (William's coach threw a curve ball yesterday evening saying practice was going to start 30 minutes early to accommodate team pictures.) That's ok. I can be flexible. Everyone got delivered on time or early.
Brevick and Anchor enjoyed running in the building where Emmerlyn goes and shouting "echo, echo" and "gecko, gecko" respectively to hear themselves.
We got gas, we picked up the garlic bread and then played at the park for 10 minutes before it was time to pick up Charley at 6:30 and we waited. and waited. I ran the kids. Then we waited. I started getting stressed as the team showed no signs of stopping and I needed to get from there to pick up Emmerlyn by 7:00. Emmerlyn doesn't tolerate me being late for her AND she asked when I dropped her off if I would be there at the end. Of course I said yes. I knew I hadn't had the late conversation with Charley recently and since I didn't now when he was going to be done I didn't want to leave him panicked and alone outside when I wasn't there.... I texted Ben, he didn't respond (he was in a meeting and then supposed to go pick up William at 7:30). By this time I only had 10 minutes and thankfully Sallee was available to go get Emmerlyn.
Charley's practice finally got over a little after 7 and we had resorted to watching Planes in the car to keep the peace. We trekked home to enjoy soup while having the "what to do if Mom is late picking you up" conversation and I figured Ben would get back with William just after us and we could say prayers and go to bed.
When we walked in the door Emmerlyn asked why I wasn't there. She took my explanation pretty well but then informed me that Sallee had been 2 minutes late getting her and she was afraid that I had been in a car accident or something and was getting nervous. (Poor sweet girl)
I was throwing dinner on the table, while watching the door for the last 2 gems to get back. They finally did a little after 8, apparently William's practice went late too.
While I was trying to get dinner on the table and people fed Anchor helped by unloading the clean dish towels.
Then while I was cleaning that up he went into the bathroom to spray down the tub.
Annndd a few miscellaneous things.
I dragged him out to eat dinner which he did.
For a minute.
Then he thought he would rather have loaded bread.
Which he didn't eat.
He hated his pajamas.
He hit the dog.
Brevick didn't want to go to bed.
William wants to keep chatting.
Sharpie keeps whining.
William wore Charley's socks for his football pictures so I need to wash them by tomorrow afternoon.
Today was laundry day.
I'm going to have a load of laundry with 2 socks in it.
As I was sighing my way to go get this computer to type this blog I found this little gem.
I have no idea how those things got there or how long they have been chillin on top of the piano.
Apparently, I have too many kids to be flexible.
The wiffles will remain in the candles for the time being because I just can't risk finding something else...
