Zonked

This is Emmerlyn and her beloved primary teacher. We got out of Young Womens about 2 minutes before everyone else and I came around the corner to this. They were both out I snapped a picture but then waited for her sister to come wake her up :) Apparently Emmerlyn was being SUPER naughty during class and kept like kicking her chair and saying " I don't care what they are saying I AM SO TIRED I JUST WANT TO SLEEP" Yep that's my sweet 4 year old. So Tanica brought her out, sat down in the chair and was explaining to her that when she was ready to go into class and be reverent then they could go back. She had not even finished saying that when she felt Emmerlyn's body totally relax and she looked down and Emmerlyn was literally already snoring. They sat there long enough that Tanica couldn't keep her eyes open either! We are so glad that Emmerlyn has such a great teacher!
With 3rd grade come cursive! (you can all remember learning that can't ya?) William has been learning it and he was writing all of his lower case letters for us to see. He does a great job! I think his cursive is beautiful *if you zoom in you can see it I think :)* He also started a new after school basketball program this week and of course he LOVES it which is great for him.
I asked Brevick to set the bowls on the table so we could eat. This is where he put them all. He must have been hungry :)
Pumpkins. I hate carving pumpkins, I hate dressing up, I hate walking around outside when it is cold and dark. I am the halloween grinch. Lucky for my kids I suck it up and deal with it and they had  great time designing and carving their pumpkins. William did his all by himself. We are not the best pumpkin carvers in the world but they are pretty proud of them. I will have to get a pick of the finished product!
As promised, Brevick got a haircut! As always he looks so much older now. Especially in his super cute shoes and pants. He has been busy this week learning how to climb on the table and open doors, I think he is going to outrun me. He has also developed a love of coloring *mostly on his hands* and taking off the lids to the markers and throwing them. He did go to nursery on Sunday and made it the whole time which was SO nice. He has become very attached to Ben and is always super excited to see "DA!"
Charley has been busy playing with legos, drawing pokeballs and digging up the flower bed to plant a pumpkin patch. He never stops moving and he sleeps so well at night :). I love meeting him after school because he always runs to me with his arms open and a big smile on his face and gives me the sweetest hug and kiss. He sure knows how to melt this momma's heart of stone!
We got their school pictures, The photographer must have been super talented because I think he got the worst picture of ever of the most photogenic kid I have ever met!
William's is a stud! I just love his cowlick and freckles and his watch really finishes his outfit!
Thanks to the Overbys this week Ben and I went out to dinner for our date, after him working like 65 hrs this week it was a nice break. Dinner went super fast and nobody screamed or threw anything, CRAZY! We love the Overby's they are like Emmerlyn's surrogate grandparents (they are not that old but that's how Emmerlyn loves them) they took the kids and a little pedal car to the high school track to race around then came back and roasted marshmallows, played the Wii and watched a movie. Brevick climbed on their table, opened all their doors, and chased their dog.

Betcha thought. . .

This was never going to happen this week. That's ok, so did I. The beginning of the week was busy and then of course I got an awesome cold and didn't want to do anything so here we are but we will make it!
The most notable event of this week was the ending of soccer season. Both the boys did so great this year and had lots of fun playing. I like soccer season and I especially like that it is only 6 weeks long:). William also had his first pack night of the year and had a great time building scarecrows. He is doing great in school and we are still trying to figure out the friend thing.
Charley has been doing really well in school also and coming home with Pokemon cards that he is getting people to give him. I'm not sure where that is going to go but it reminds me of a brother I had that could long ago swindle people out of their cards.
Emmerlyn was cold so she was standing over the heat vent. We laughed about her fat suit for way longer than we should have!
His fatness kills me. He loves to throw the ball and is getting pretty good at it. I think he has also been a little under the weather this week because he hasn't been sleeping all that great, maybe he just isn't a really good sleeper because that has been the common theme for awhile. We are hoping to get him moved down with the boys and learning to sleep in other places so if we do ever want to leave the house it won't be a nightmare.
Man-bun! What a stud. This is the only age where I would condone this behavior but I mean how could you not? (Sorry Ben I know you have a strict no girly hairdos on our boys! I will fix it :)
 Here's a boy do!
Emmerlyn has been following Charley's lead and getting into the Pokemon thing and has been franticlly making "poke-balls" for the last 2 days, needless to say the house is covered poke-balls and slivers of paper.
She did take time for a cupcake that we HAD to buy at the store, they had frozen rings.
He found time for one too. He has a more direct approach to eating his.
We had made milkshakes on Monday for FHE and to celebrate the end of soccer and I was doing the dishes the next morning. I had just filled the blender the night before with water to 'soak' overnight aka I am lazy. Well as I was working along the blender totally tipped over and instead of just dumping into the sink it splashed up our uber-shallow sink all over the front of me. In my irritation I said I was never making milkshakes again! Emmerlyn heard me and came in mortified looking over the situation. As relief washed over her face she said "no mom, you will, you just won't do the dishes!" I like that compromise I think we will have milkshakes everyday!

4 Years

Not only did we celebrate Emmerlyn's 4th birthday but the 4 year anniversary of our moving to Glasgow has come and gone this last week. I'm honestly surprise we are still here. I can still vividly remember those first couple months where I was religiously counting down the days until we would be able to move away. Needless to say I don't don that anymore. For all its faults Glasgow does truly grow on you just like the Old Ladies told me when we moved in. We will still continue to see what the future holds for us but for today we are here in our work-in-progress home that we love with a great town and friends and family.
For Young Womens this week we did a Temple Marrige time capsule and naturally had to take it above that to be set up like a wedding reception complete with a mini wedding cake (I will not be a cake decorator when I grow up. It was a lot of fun and I think the girls liked it.
Some unknown person wrote on the barbie house (that we JUST finished painting!) although she claims it wasn't her the evidence of only 1 person home old enough to write (besides mom) and 1 little girl who is so proud of how well she can write her name letter. . . . points strongly in her direction.
 Lid removal
Cutie then he would breathe through it and sound like darth vader. He has cut 4 molars in the last week or so which is great! I am hoping the sleepless nights are coming to an end soon. Our next step is teaching him to sleep in places other than his crib. (Right now I would not dare spend a night somewhere else because I know that he would not sleep at all and it would be a nightmare!) He has also become proficient at saying go and car!
William and Dad were watching for their friend to come pick them up to go hunting for pheasents. As luck would have it they didn't get any but they had fun trying! Brevick wanted to "go car" too but turns out you have to be potty trained before you can hunt :)
A little piano duet. Emmerlyn was singing "the Tuesday song" which if you don't know it just says tuesday over and over again.
For our date this weekend we put the clothes in the attic! Yay for a clean garage. Except then I took apart a dresser to convert it into a computer armoire so Yay for a messy garage! I'm almost done. . . .

Happy Birthday Princess and the Pea

So you turned the big 4 today. How did that happen? You are turning into such a beautiful little girl and you know it! We celebrated your birthday on Saturday because we knew that today would be so crazy and we wanted to make sure you got enough celebrating in. It was General Conference so you had crazy hair that you didn't want to be combed.
Presents from your grandparents. They are so great!
One of your gifts from Grandpa and Grandma Rydalch is this barbie house. It needed a little re-decorating so we worked on it together and got it finished just in time! You choose the colors and did a great job helping to paint and sand.
Before
After!
Cake time. You wanted an owl cake so this is what we came up with.
You really struggled blowing out the candles for some reason it took you about 4 tries to get them all out so we decided you have about 12 boyfriends (which may be true because there are not a lot of little girls you age that we hang out with!
When I put the leftover cake in the container it smashed the eyes. You laughed and laughed!
You are such a fun girl to have in our family!
You love:
to play with your brothers in short spurts
to have your space
to collect random things and keep them in your room.
to watch TV especially Curious George and Barbie
playing with Barbies mostly getting them dressed
Dolls, your favorite is still Baby Granite
Jetta. That doggie receives almost all of your love and attention she loves for you to sit next to her and squeeze her tight.
having your fingernails and toenails painted
Pink, it's your very favorite color
to go fishing
to give hugs
to go ANYWHERE you always like to be the one that goes.
Yogurt. That is your favorite lunch food and what you choose to have for your birthday dinner.
Cold cereal, granola bars, crackers of any kind.
to be read to
to stay up late
to ride your bike
to do crafts
to draw (below is a sample of a person you drew recently)
You give the greatest hugs in the world and have a great imagination. You have a big heart and want to be friends with everyone. You are still very shy and take awhile to warm up to people!
What a great girl
Happy Birthday Squishy Bug!

Homecoming 2015

Yep we have gotten to that point in the year again and had a great time celebrating homecoming this last week. We even went to the game (we parked behind the field and watched from our car because #1 it was raining and #2 taking Brevick to things like that gives me anxiety.) It was fun to watch and Glasgow got their first win of the season with like 42 to 6 or something. It was also fun to watch the halftime show from the bagpipe band that they bring in for homecoming. The kids had fun dressing up for the spirit days. Charley had to miss the first two due to illness but he was ready for action after that.
William for inside out day (then it was had day but I didn't get a picture. . .
 Movie character day!
Super hero day *can I just say I love what William choose to dress up as. An army guy, the respect and admiration that this boy has for those that serve our country astounds me everyday. I don't know where he gets it! He warmed my heart that day choosing to celebrate a real life hero (with no prompting from anyone else!)
Scottie Pride Day! They looked great in their red white and black and had lots of fun. We tried to dye their hair but it failed, I think it is too dark. We went to the parade and all the kids had fun except Brevick who didn't like that they were throwing things from the floats (he didn't understand that it was candy!) I really like this parade because it is short and sweet!
We also hung up the Halloween stuff because it is FINALLY (in the words of the kids) October!
I loved having General Conference this week! It was so great and tailored I swear to just me! I learned so much. Not the least of which all of our couches are too uncomfortable to sit on for 2 hours at a time! Who knew! The kids had fun eating treats and playing and especially staying home from church. Charley came up on Sunday and said he was too sick to go to church. When we said it was Conference he instantly broke into a smile and bounded away.
For our date this weekend we watched Conference. Yep the attic stuff is still sitting in the garage I am sure we will get to it someday. . .

It Didn't End

So I guess I was banking on the world ending so when it didn't I had to scramble to put my life back together so the blog kind of got thrown by the wayside. Just kidding but that is a good excuse right? I actually didn't even know the world was supposed to end I am so out of touch here I guess I just missed the memo. The eclipse was pretty cool though we watched a bit of it. I was a little disappointed I thought it would be more red :/ Emmerlyn and William thought it was pretty cool *Emmerlyn's excitement was probably more to do with the fact that she was getting to stay up a little later.* Charley was sick so he wasn't overly impressed. Brevick didn't care.
I got to go to the Women's Broadcast on Saturday and it was as fabulous as ever.
For our date this week Ben mowed the lawn and I carried boxes out of the basement so he could put them in the attic (still waiting for them to make it INTO the attic. I think that part will be our date this weekend!)
William started his popcorn sales last week, I don't think we are going to get very much this week because we haven't be super on the ball with it but he did do part of the neighborhood and he will be going to Ben's office so I think that is good enough. (Yep I am that awesome scouting mom.) William did pretty good in his soccer game but did a lot of wandering on the sidelines and standing in the field. He is still loving school and doing a little better at getting his work done. He started reading Harry Potter and really likes it so far!
Charley was sick on Monday and Tuesday with a low grade fever followed by a stomach bug (which Emmerlyn says was made better by watching lots of TV). He is now addicted to Coke (caffiene free OF COURSE!) He drank 3 cans that day and now every time he walks past me he says "hey mom, I need a coke!" He went to William's soccer game just wearing his PJ pants and a T-shirt and Ben said he got all embarrassed because his friends might see him looking like "THIS". One more Goobies note, we had the missionaries over for dinner on Monday and then they were giving the lesson and asked the kids if they were planning on missions they said yes and I told them that in our family they couldn't be in love until after their missions (yes we have had that talk, lots.) I also said that Charley had his eyes on a tall blonde girl in the Kindergarten (which he does and has told basically everyone we know). Well he got so embarrassed he was laughing and tucked his head in his lap and turned tomato red! I have never seen him do that. We are still chuckling about it.
Emmerlyn has been working on her workbook and perfecting her computer skills. She has been keeping busy writing Christmas lists for everyone she knows and drawing pictures of her friends. She likes to bug Brevick by taking his stuff and she likes to have a full agenda. She sure has missed Charley at school and really liked spending time with him these last couple days. She is also working on refusing to do anything that she is asked.
Brevick is keeping busy climbing and out-smarting me. Every thing that I try to do to contain him or prevent his access to something he finds away around we are now keeping extra chairs and stools in the garage so he can't find them. He is funny though and likes to tickle people's feet. He also made it through ALL of Sacrament Meeting for the first time in his life on Sunday. It was SO nice!
Charley said he was all ready for church. We are now working on the correct layering procedure.
Ben went shooting on Saturday and scoped in forehead again. Thankfully due to the stronger scare tissue from the last incident it did not break the skin :). He is busy at work trying to get the audits planned and going for this fall and trying to figure out how to make it through tax season.
Its been a busy week but we will survive!
