Back to School Part 1

Yep William started 2nd grade today, when did he get so old? He kept telling everyone that he was not ready to go back to school yet but last night he was so excited he couldn't go to sleep and then he was up super early getting his lunch together and then he almost left without his shoes. I'm pretty sure he was ready to go back. I think that he will have a good year and he has a good teacher and some friends in his class so I am excited for him. Our house was a lot calmer this morning he likes to get everybody riled up but I do miss him talking to me during rest time :)

His new backpack, it is camo because he is an army guy wanna-be and it is like a 1 strap cross body bag. He picked it out because that is what high-schoolers use and "people might think I'm a high school kid by I am like only in 2nd grade I could like skip third grade and then go to high school" he is pretty pumped about is bag and he is also 7 going on 13.
William was practicing his photography skills again and Brevick is showing you his fat face.
Ben has been insanely busy the last month or so at work doing audits. He is supposed to finish-up tonight (YAY!!!!!) so hopefully we will get him back. The other night he came home from work at about 10:30 pm and Brevick was awake talking to me and then we sat on the couch. Ben turned on a movie to watch so he could wind down before he went to bed. (We don't watch a whole lot of TV especially me since Brevick was born, I just don't have time for it and if I did I would rather be sleeping!) Anyway I was holding Brevick in the other chair and he could not take his little eyes off of Ben's movie (which by the way was a documentary on deer so no bright colors just pretty much different shades of brown and gold :).I saw my escape to bed and passed him off to Ben where he could continue to enjoy his movie!
In other news this week. Excluding Brevick we have all been sick. Emmerlyn even got an awesome 103* fever so she got some antibiotics. We are slowly recovering but at least the worst of it was over before school started. Also our town has been flooding because of all the rain so that has been exciting for the kids.
Ben completed the ice bucket challenge on Sunday when it was a toasty 52* outside so he is awesome. Have a great week!

Same old Same old

Both of them are getting so big (it is funny that they are both making a similar face.)

We had TV/Computer free week last week and the kids did really good. Sometimes you just have to cut bad habits cold turkey at the end of the week they got to have a movie night and they loved it, they even invited their dog to watch it with them. (note our daughter is the one without a shirt, we may have a modesty issue going on right now.)
Getting a bath, luckily we always have lots of help when Brevick is getting a bath. He was funny with Ben though he wouldn't stay sitting down he kept trying to stand up every time Ben tried to re-position him. He loves to stand when we are holding him and his legs are getting pretty strong.
He lost his first top tooth this week just in time for 2nd grade. He was pretty excited to show us and I think he may have pulled it a little prematurely because there was a lot of bleeding going on for a tooth!
William and Charley have been getting lots of hours of play in because William's school starts next week. He is super excited to be in 2nd grade but he is not excited to have to sit in school all day! (so he says, I think he loves it but that is not the cool thing to say!)

Painting

This week we have been working on painting our house. It would be a little easier without a 2 month old baby who feels like he needs lots of attention (and who doesn't want to give it to a cute little fella). We have done the bulk of it we just need to do all the trim now. . . .
We also made a quick trip to Great Falls on Friday/Saturday just to get out of town and get our stuff together for school to start soon. It was fun except for some reason Emmerlyn cannot go to sleep in hotels and so between her and Brevick we were exhausted. We remember that we hate staying in hotels with her and we are never going again.
The kids having a dinner picnic while we paint. (yep that is McDonald's food)
I let William do a lemonade stand. He got 4 customers not counting Charley and Emmerlyn but he had fun so I guess that is all that matters.
Practicing falling off their bikes. William has everyone so afraid of their bike tipping over so nobody will ride them so trying to de-sensitize them by showing them that it doesn't hurt that bad. I don't think it is working but we will keep trying.
Holding Brevick, she loves to hold him whenever she gets a chance. I think it is so amazing how much his big siblings love him. He is the first thing they want to see and kiss in the morning. Hopefully that never changes. Right after I took this picture she said should I squeeze him? Yep definitely almost 3!

That was a long week.

Yeah it was. Ben was at Scout Camp each evening so it made for really long days. We tried to get out more by going to exercise group and to story time so the kids could interact more with other kids and get a break from me.
This little guy is growing. He is taking better naps in the day time so that is nice because I can get a few things done or spend time with the kids doing other stuff. He is still a loud sort of kiddo and super gassy because he swallows so much air so I am not sure what to do with that.
On Tuesday night when Ben was at Scout Camp Emmerlyn opted to jump off the couch and smacked her forehead on the ottoman so of course it was spurting blood all down her face. I was concerned she was going to need stitches but once I got it rinsed and cleaned I decided it would be ok. Of course it happened right and Brevick woke up and was ravenously hungry with his little mouth open ready to eat and I had to put him down (insert devastatingly sad puppy dog lip here) so I could help her. I had William call Ben at about this point because if she was going to need stitches I was going to need back-up. Ben felt a little bad at hearing the chaos but I put him on standby which thankfully we didn't need him in the end.

Our new favorite treat is to make banana ice cream where you just take frozen bananas and whip them in the food processor until they reach the consistency of ice cream and they really do. We have had chocolate flavor and just banana and vanilla. Our next flavor that William wants to try is strawberry which I think will be delicious. (Is is nice to have something healthy that they can have as a treat, I vote banana ice cream everyday!)

She thought she was pretty funny, and William was calling her a stink-bug!
Science Day! our first one of the summer hopefully not the last but who knows. They thought it was pretty cool that their leaves changed colors.
funny little girl with water all over her shirt from brushing her teeth.
Our little crew helpers we have started painting our house but it is on hold due to bad weather but we are hoping to get going again tomorrow. I can't wait until it is all done it will look so much better (I hope)
She fell asleep reading her book. For some reason she has had a hard time going to bed lately she has stayed up until 10:30 and is refusing naps so she is pretty tired when she does finally go to sleep.

Sunday was an exciting day, I curled Emmerlyn's hair for the first time in her life. (I have been afraid of burning her, I need to get a smaller curling iron.) Isn't she adorable? I thought so! She has been funny lately, she won't wear dresses that she has to wear an undershirt with so she can only wear 2 of her dresses.
The kids did really good in Church on Sunday (such a nice break) I think it helped that Charley was sitting with someone else (why won't our kids sit with us? We must be that bad.) He did really good in primary too which made me happy. I can't believe that summer is almost over I kind of feel like I missed it I feel like all of my kids grew over night they are changing so fast it is exciting everyday that is for sure.
