Spring fever

This girl is ready for spring! She dressed herself and Brevick in shorts because "you know it's warm today!" It's 50* She loves spending time in the backyard walking her dog of just playing! Silly girl :)
Brevick is staying busy climbing on everything finding trouble and pulling his sister's socks off. He did sit quietly on my lap while I typed some of this and it was AMAZING just to snuggle him.  He loves to do that. He also likes to be outside but I think mostly he just likes going in and out and 'accidentally' letting Jetta in then yelling "oh no Jetta In ! Jetta In! out Jetta Out!" I feel a little bad for the dog because he coaxes her in and then yells at her for coming in the house.
The other day William came home talking about how there hadn't been anything invented yet that could go the speed of light. "mom, just think of all of the places you could go and how fast you could get there if we invented this!!" He then told me that this summer he was going to invent something that could go faster than the speed of light. I said GREAT! Go for it. Then he started planning where to start. The next day was the library day for his class and these are the books he checked out.
I tell you what if there ever was someone who could figure that out it could be him. Well after studying the books he started writing up his plans and drawing his idea and jotting down a list of supplies. He was talking to me as he was doing this and I wasn't paying total attention until he was asking if he could have the leftover metal from the ductwork for his prototype. It was then that I actually zoned in on what he was telling me and showing me and it clicked that he was planning to build a ROCKET in the backyard this summer! We decided that for the first draft he needed to work with something less explosive and then work up from there.
He had his cub scout field day on Saturday and he had lots of fun going to the fish hatchery, doing some archery, fishing, crafting and cooking outside. He has great scout leaders and is really loving it!
Charley has been staying busy with school and practicing the piano double time so he can earn twice as much computer time *that kid is a thinker and he knows how to barter for what he wants*
Ben has been working super hard on his audits and then coming home and working on the kitchen; he is amazing I don't know how he does it. Our kitchen is coming along. . . slowly. We got the upper cabinets put in last night so that is a big step we are hoping to make some good progress this weekend.
I am just trying not to let the remodal clutter and disorganization get to me. I am starting to get irritable with it so it is time to finish!!!
But on a happy note, I blogged on time this week!

Out of Whack

I know that I have totally slacked on this journal thing lately. For whatever reason my whole life seems to be currently out of sync. All of the flow and routines have been shaken up and the things that were easy to do are now the things that seem to be dropped. I will try to do better!
We are plugging along on our kitchen which I think is a big part of why we are off. I think it is causing me stress. I am loving the pieces that are starting to come together and I can't wait to get it finished!!!!!!!! I am learning all kinds of new skills like taping and texturing dry wall *I never want to do that again* I even wired lights! This is huge for me because I do not usually work with electrical because #1 I don't want to get shocked and #2 I don't want our house to burn down if I mess up. So far so good though and now we have overhead lighting in our living and dining room! Why was it ever an option not to?
The kids have been busy with school and trying to survive in our disaster of a house but they are doing a good job of it. William is working this week to finish up the last few things for his Bear patch so he is pretty excited. One of the requirements is that he has to plant some vegetables so we are going to be doing that. Good thing that they don't actually have to grow because I can't guarantee that will happen :)
Emmerlyn and Charley were telling me the other day that I should start paying them to do their chores. I said "wow, that's a great idea are you going to start paying me for mine?" After thinking for a minute Emmerlyn responded "well we can maybe pay you for one but I don't want to waste all my money for that!" Smart girl knows what she wants!
This last weekend was as good one. I took the opportunity to go with some friends to the Time Out for Women Conference in Lethbridge Canada. It was SO fun and SO uplifting to be around that many women of our church! I missed my kiddos and it was a long 5 hrs each way but it was so worth it! The kids had fun with Ben they got to roast marshmallows with friends and hot dogs at home and they went for a drive to check out a new fishing spot. Ben also worked on the kitchen. . . forever. . .
In other news, Ben is busy with audits. Of course.
On Sunday after 3 years of being in Young Women's I was released. It was a bittersweet moment and I will admit there were a few tears. . . or maybe a lot. They are great girls but I knew it was time for me to go out and they have great leadership coming in, I am excited for them. I enjoyed being without a calling for about 30 seconds and then I was called to be the 1st counselor in the Primary Presidency. I am super excited and EXTREMELY nervous. The only primary calling I have held was as the pianist and that was only for about 3 months. I have a lot to learn but it will be good for me!
That is the basics of our life. I will try to do better maybe I might switch blogging to a different day, it might work better. . .
